And we are off!
After 4 days of visiting the family and catching up with old friends, it was time to get on the road. 3500 miles to drive to get to California. We kissed the family good bye, loaded up our rented Ford Edge, and are on our way. First stop Panama Beach, Florida. The drive was just about 7 hours long, but SB felt like it was never going to end. Sometimes I felt like it was never going to end. I think we all just wanted to get to the beach and feel the sand between our toes.
3 days into our Florida visit an unfortunate battle between an iPhone and a pool ( the pool wins) has left us with one working phone, and no photos of our drive across the middle of Florida. But I did find a nice shot of the beautiful tops of the palms in landscaped Lakewood Ranch on the west coast.
No road trip can be complete without stopping at the funky roadside attractions along the way. And in Florida the roadside attraction is baby alligators. We found these adorable little creatures in a gas station on the I-75. Cute to look at, but I don’t think I would want to take one home.
Next stop: Panama Beach!
