Kicking off the Holidays Window Shopping

Black Friday in New York is a real treat for kicking off the holiday shopping season. Today SB was off spending the afternoon with Grandma, so GB and I decided to get into the spirit of the season with some retail therapy. We found the streets around 5th Avenue buzzing with people who all seemed to have the same idea.  Crowds gathered around many of the store windows. This city goes all out with its holiday window displays. I have read about these amazing windows for years, but never got to actually see them until now. In New York, the big name department stores line the streets with fantasy windows in hopes of bringing people in to shop for high-end designer gifts. (Yes, we were inspired to spend.)  These windows are over the top!  And they feel like no expense has been spared. The NY Times is even reporting that this year the Bergdorf Goodman windows are using around 7 million crystals. It is maximum “WOW”, and shoppers crowd around with smartphones in hand to snap a photo of these great creations. Happy holiday spending everyone!

From my good friend, Lana, who is always Hopping Around the World! Her latest adventure was to the Big Apple!

Thank you for the simply fabulous blog on NYC Windows during the Thanksgiving Day Parade! The photography is fantastic! It’s almost like being there — SWOON!

And no spoilers, but I’m LOVING the Star Wars windows — as I try to get to sleep knowing we’ll be seeing it early in the morning — The Force Awakens!! Yay!

Thank you for sharing all your corners of the world ❤

    • Thank you. I really enjoyed getting to see the windows. They were over the top. It was my first time seeing them in person. I just used my I phone for the photos. The sun caused a lot of reflection on the glass that I don’t know how to fix.

      • I generally turn off the flash, try to shoot in natural light, or use the quick-fix edit options on my phone. Truth be told, I love your photos and think they’re fabulous! Thank you for sharing!
